The harvest (unsaved) did not mean much to me until I saw it in the Philippines for myself. When I see the thousands of students without any known Gospel witness, I look up to God, start weeping and just ask “why?” Why is it so unfair? Why are so many going to die and end up without Christ when they have not been given the opportunity to hear the Gospel and receive Christ? It is not that these people do not want to receive Jesus, they just do not know how because they have no Gospel light around at all. As these thoughts overwhelm me, I get drawn back to God’s love for the world (John 3:16) and how selfish I have been in loving and reaching precious souls for Jesus.

Sometimes, I just wonder why God did not print the Gospel in the sky but then I realized why. It is because He has chosen Christians to reach the world. I learned it takes a heart to reach other hearts. So it has been my prayer daily that God will call and send many more (especially teens) to reach the precious harvest for Jesus. “God has a plan to reach every tribe and nation on earth in every age, it’s not God who does not call or care but God’s people who are not responding or are just too busy to hear God’s call”

One thing that I really appreciate about the Philippine culture is their simplicity. I have learned to appreciate the simple things in life. Most of the times, We Singaporeans get so caught up with the latest technology, trend and the busyness of life that we fail to appreciate the simple things in life. The simple culture in the Philippines has taught me that precious people are far more important than temporal things.

Through my time with Pastor Mike in the Philippines, I have learnt that reaching people for Jesus is all about building relationships. No relationships, no ministry. In reaching the lost for Jesus, it is important to pray for open doors and favor with authorities. A simple smile and one hearty handshake with a school’s principal can lead to a wonderful door for the Gospel light to reach thousands of students. May God help all of us build bridges with people so that when the green light comes from God, we can cross over successfully with the Gospel!
