Entering National Service (Singapore)

I'm now enlisted into Singapore Civil Defense Force, and it's only the first week. Thank God for His sufficient grace throughout.

A few months back, I was wondering to myself "Why on earth did CMPB placed me there for National Service? Why not SAF's Commandos since I've been declared PES A? Why not this? Why not that?

At times in life, we do question why do we end up in places which we least expected, don't we?.

Yes, I've heard many things of SCDF, they've got the strictest discipline, the toughest training programs, etc. But thinking about it for awhile, if God allowed this posting, then it has to be His will.

I was brought back to a song "Grace", written by Carolyn Hamlin. Especially to the first line of the chorus "Your will cannot lead me where your grace cannot keep me."

I thought to myself, isn't that amazing?! He will not put me in a place where He knew I'm unfit for! Even though I still do not understand why SCDF, but all I have to know is His grace is enough, His grace is sufficient for me. Who knows, God could use this 2 years to make me not just a man, but a man on fire which no firefighters can extinguish!

Guys (and girls), perhaps you questioned God why He have you placed in a place which seems more of a virtual hell, perhaps it is the place He placed you in doesn't look profitable. God have a higher purpose for us, it is He who direct our steps. Of course, we can either choose to obey or defy His leading. I do hope you will choose the former over the latter.

Boys (just boys), you may have been posted to some "sai-kang warrior" unit, a frontline unit, or even as a lifeguard. Do not be afraid or be worried what's coming next in National Service. Be it SAF, SPF or SCDF, God is in control, and His grace is enough to put you through.

Go and claim on His promise in His word: He will never desert you, nor will He ever forsake you. You will never know how God will have you molded/used even in so-called undesirable places.
