Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
As I was seeking the Lord’s mind to write this post about what the Lord would have me to share with you regarding what I’ve learnt from the Philippines, I found a song I had once heard entitled “God of This City”
God so moved me when I heard the chorus. For greater things are yet to come, and greater things are still to be done in this city. It was like God saying, “Look, greater things are yet to come, greater things are still to be done in Singapore!”
It’s good to look back at the Philippines trip and reflect what the Lord has taught me there. However, I believe it is even more vital to look forward in great expectation to the greater things God is going to do in Singapore.
A brief run through of the things the Lord taught me through the Philippines Evangelistic Campaign:
- The Heart of God is for souls
- God is not looking for strength, He is looking for weakness
- I am simply to be a mouthpiece; the convicting work is the Holy Spirits’
- Evangelism is to be a lifestyle, not a ministry!
- I saw with my own two eyes, that the harvest is plenteous, but the laborers are few. So few.
What happens after many mission trips is that people come back refreshed, revived. They live off their mountain-top experience for awhile, still having the mentality that you have to go “there” or “there” to really see God work. As I came back from the Philippines, I was afraid that would happen to me too so I told God I did not want to leave my faith in Philippines. I’m bringing it back with me to Singapore.
I’ve been back in Singapore for about two weeks and I’m amazed how fast the heart can grow cold and I can lose compassion for souls. I thank God for this timely reminder through this song that He still desires to work greatly in Singapore.
Greater things are yet to come, greater things are still to be done in this city.

My heart’s desire is that you will not just read this and walk away with a ‘feel-good’ attitude. I pray that you will take some time now to pray in faith, asking God to do greater things in this city. Asking God to first work in you and give you a compassion for the lost which can only come from Him. Asking God to start with you, to use you as a witness among your family and in your classroom.
You may have been praying, but will you start taking steps of faith?

Hey Melody! Thanks for sharing. It blessed my heart and challenged me very much.. Love the song too! Indeed GREATER THINGS are still to be done.. in SINGAPORE.. Let's use every opportunity available to reach the world for Him:))
