Father, break our pride

What if someone came up to you, and said, " ________, you are proud, disobedient, and a troublemaker", how would we answer or respond?

Our typical respond would be to deny immediately, thinking of all the 'noble' things we have done, how we have obeyed God in so many areas etc. We would even think the person was just out to criticize.

However, an interesting response i came upon while reading a book was this, and i shall quote: "Why, if anyone had said to me, 'Roy B., you are proud, disobedient, and a troublemaker,' I would answer: 'Amen, brother! And even then you haven't said the half of it!' What good thing is there in any of us, anyway? We have victory over these things only as we bring them one by one to the Cross and ask our Lord to crucify it for us."

Amazing truth isn't it? Why try to make other people think that as Christians, we are lily-white. The actual fact is that we are sinners, saved only by the grace of God.

Are we willing to break that pride within us? Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Heb 4:16

In His love,
Pat

think the best response would be to find out why he said that in the first place ;)
