I returned to SG on wednesday and spent the most part of thursday in the company of my best friend. We decided to have brunch in bukit timah, and we spent the better part of an hour circling the entire stretch of Bt Timah road in a bid to find PARKING, because we were being cheap and refusing to pay expensive carpark fares ahaha. Furthermore, our usual free parking spot in the carpark of this cafe that we frequent was completely inaccessible because despite our repeated phone calls, the owners just weren't picking up and we needed them to open the gate!!!
So after getting completely frustrated with the lack of parking space and unanswered prayers for a parking lot (or so i thought), we gave up and headed to Holland V. Whilst we were there, it started raining HARDCORE, like we got completely drenched getting back to the car after lunch despite having an umbrella in posession.
However! This morning, I logged into facebook to read the most unexpected message: My bestie excitedly informed me that the free carpark space where we originally wanted to park had flooded over during the storm, and the cars which were parked there floated away!!!! Which would've happened to us if we DID park there!
Moral of the story? Sometimes what looks like the best for us isn't always THE best for us and God knows that although we don't.. if we had managed to park there it wouldve caused us an unbelievable amount of trouble. At the time, it seemed as if God didn't care enough to give us a parking lot, but hey, it turned out that He cared enough to prevent us from parking in a place which would grant us short term benefit (familiar spot + free + save time), and make us find an alternative parking space which seemed like the pits, but in hindsight, it wasn't, really.
Hindsight, my friends, is a very interesting thing. We often only see the hand of God when we look back, as sometimes we do get to the point where we wonder, "what good could possibly come out of this?" But grab onto God, never stop praying and He will bring you to the place where you'll be able to look back and say "thank you God, that this or that didn't work out. it was better Your way".
xx
