Institutionalized in psychological terms refers to deficits or disabilities in social and life skills, which develop after a person has spent a long period living in mental hospitals, prisons, or other remote institutions.
It also refers to disabilities to break out from the life of brokenness after having spent much of their lives in it, thought is already being saved by Jesus.
This frame of mind can be commonly found among believers whom are saved at the adolescence stage. Being accustomed living in the state of brokenness, the journey to restoration from personal brokenness seems too scary. Thus some "made it to the promise land", while others gave up for a roller coaster ride just as the one Israelites had after being freed from the bondage of Egypt.
God is in the business of restoration, but we need to know that the journey isn't easy. Jesus is still asking you this, "Do you want to be healed?"
