One of the songs we sang this past Sunday goes,
Take my life and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee;
Take my hands and let them move at the impulse of Thy love, at the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet and let them be swift and beautiful for Thee;
Take my voice and let me sing, always, only for my King, always, only for my King . . . .
Take my feet and let them be swift and beautiful for Thee . . . The Lord pricked my heart with this stanza.
Feet are described as beautiful 3 times in the Bible, 2 of which are when believers spread the gospel (Isa 52:7, Rom 10:15).
There I was consecrating my life to God, telling Him to take every part of it. But was I also willing to take out “me time” and share the gospel? Or was my worship like the lightning? Flashes brightly but vanishes within the next moment. I know I sang the hymn with all sincerity and honesty, but the question is . . . was I singing with a heart committed to change in every aspect at all costs?
It’s very easy to say “Ok ok, I’ll go for Street-E this week” and end up not going at all. I know, because I’ve done that many times. It’ll probably be better if you told a friend/buddy about your commitment, vice versa, and hold each other accountable. Let’s not just be hearers (or singers or talkers) about our desire for Christ-likeness, but let’s be sons/daughters who put our desire for Christ-likeness into action! (James 1:22-24)
So I end by telling you all that I along with Ruth, our amazing webmaster & blog editor, will be going for Street-E tomorrow. Let’s keep each other committed to what we sang to God on Sunday. Hope to see you tomorrow for Street-E!
