A Proverb A Day

"These proverbs will give insight to the simple, knowledge and discernment to the young." Proverbs 1:4 (NLT)

Many people think that the Bible is hard to understand and not practical to today's life. If that is you, have you ever tried reading a Proverb a day? There are 31 chapters in Proverbs, which means that you can read one every day according to the date. For example for today, 9 July 2009, I can read Proverbs 9. And when you read, ask God to give you a verse that you can apply to your life today. Keep it in your mind and keep thinking about it as you go about doing your stuff of the day.

If you are struggling with you daily time with God's Word, start with a Proverb a day and see how God wants to change your thinking and actions inside out. Use an easier translation like NLT or ESV when you need help. Trust me, if you take it seriously and ask God for help to apply it, you will take a life time to learn all you need in the Book of Proverbs. Praise God for such a practical book that contains timeless principles and rules of life!!

Don't start reading it before you go to bed =). And if you need help understanding, don't assume on God's Word and take it to mean what you want it to mean. Ask for help, ask the Holy Spirit in you, ask other Christ-like believers. Instead of talking about the normal stuff, talk about Proverbs when you see each other, or over sms or MSN or facebook. As you learn, share it with others, don't be selfish with what God is teaching you =) Help yourselves and others to grow in Christ!
