This might make a good joke for laughter but really, I cut myself while shaving.
It was my first shave, and there you have it, I managed to cut some small bit of skin off my upper lip. Why? Wrong technique!
Is it painful? Yes. Does it still hurt? No. Will I shave again? Of course!
Has there been a time you did a tryout for His sake and failed? (Who hasn't failed? You tell me!) Is there a pain from failure that is currently holding you back from doing what God wants you to do?
Yes, I felt that sharp pain when I got cut, but does the pain last forever? No.
Look at Apostle Peter! He failed big time!!! He ran his mouth off to the wrong Person at the wrong place at the wrong time with all the wrong words! Not forgetting him denying his Master publicly (just as Jesus predicted)!
But was all that a collapse? NO!
Yes it is painful (and heart breaking) when Jesus searched him out (of almost nowhere). But he ultimately learned from his mistakes and went on to be one of the most important human figure in the Bible!
Pain is temporal, learning is life-long! Failure is a lapse, not collapse!
Perhaps you have failed in various ministries before. Perhaps you find yourself failing in areas of your life. Talk to an older brother or sister with sound Godly wisdom, be teachable and be quick to learn. Don't keep looking down and around your failures and past mistakes, look up to God. Remember, pain is always part of the learning process, just like shaving (boys, you will know soon enough!)
"When he falls, he will not be hurled headlong, Because the Lord is the One who holds his hand." Psalm 37:24 NASB
