Reflections: Availability Over Ability

“Then saith he unto his disciples, the harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few;
Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth laborers into his harvest.” Matthew 9:37

The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few...
This verse really came alive to me during the Philippines Campaign 09. We saw thousands of high school and college students hunger for God’s Word and their openness to receive Him. God OPENED my eyes WIDE to see that there are still a lot of people out there that have not heard the Gospel even once! What are we so called Christians doing with this statement?! Just read it and leave it? Or should we do something about it?! We have seen God perform miracles that the human mind cannot understand, that encourage us, His servants, that He is in control of everything, and that we need not worry about anything. Another reason is as what Pastor Mike had said, is because GOD LOVES THESE PEOPLE (the world, us)!!! Today, are we seeing how God works in our life? Are we seeing how God answers our prayers?

When I came back from the trip, I read a verse that struck me.

“For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened.” Mark 6:52

Yu Fei sharing the Gospel to a classroom of souls.

I have seen and you have heard the miracles. I can share a lot of the miracles that God had performed and how God spoke personally to me. But I think all of us, and myself included, need God to break our hardened heart first before we do anything today. Bring us back to the first love, Lord. Give us Your compassion and Your love for the lost souls out there, Lord. May God help us today.

“The Great Commission is not an option to be considered; it is a command to be obeyed.”

I thank God personally that it is first He that allowed me to witness His working there, I want to thank God for ALL the precious lessons that He has taught me personally. ALL glory and honor back to HIM alone. During the 3rd week of the trip, some of us were caught with fever and flu and I was the 1st to be struck with all these 3 illnesses. It took me 5 days to recover from the fever that I had, which means that the team will be sharing the Gospel while I was resting back at the centre. I thought that I had H1N1 at first because most of the symptoms seemed pointing at me, but thank God it wasn’t. With the care of our dear Pastor and the team, I survived through these times. God taught me to use these time that I am resting to pray, to read His word, and to rest some of the books on the shelf. It was personally a refreshing time for me during those times.

Pastor Mike seeks the Lord for His grace and mercy.

Through the time together with Pastor Mike and the SMCI workers, I learnt a lot of truth and heard a lot of testimony from them, it blessed my heart to see how God worked through their life, and to see how they give up their dream job to serve the Lord. One main lesson that I learnt from them is that God can use a weak man like us for His work, to serve him.

If you have faith in God, if you believe God can use you, if you are willing to take a STEP OF FAITH here and there, then God can do incredible things through you. God is not looking for ability BUT availability! He can give you the ability in time. God is looking for someone to say “I would like to make a difference where I am Lord, I am available.” You just watch and see what God will do!

In His love,
"Iron Tooth" Yu Fei
